Moved to Melbourne from gippsland when this was huge & all of the metro trains were covered in General Electric stickers . I suffered from social anxiety at the time & i used to crank this thru the discman on the train to deal with it & it got me thru
Just came for that pre-chorus riff - has been in my head for years - play it every time I pick up a guitar, and only ever saw this clip a few times, it's just so awesome it got tattooed on my brain
Bro, I saw grinspoon at the Brisbane entertainment centre and shihad was the band before and they blew the whole place away. John came running around the place . Then the main band came out and left after 20mins lol
mmmmmmmmm......................the two Triple Rectifiers being played by two quite good guitarists (a LOT more skilful and talented than this 4 chord song would suggest (check their first EP Devolve)) and the hard hitting, solid as fuck drummer also play a significant part. But yes, the bass in this is huge. If you haven't yet, pick up and play a Jack Cassidy bass, unplugged. They are large without being plugged in. It's amazing. So imagine amplifying that......
that is THE BEST CROWD INTERACTION ive seen in ages....off the stage , into the crowd and back on stage in that short time..all i can say is WOW...fucking sick man
How have I only just come across this video!!! Seen Shihad at least 10 times since I first caught them live probably a month or so after the BDO tour in this video (2000 University Orientation Toga Party with Head Like A Hole... another legendary NZ rock band that kills it live every time as well), never been a disappointment!!!
@@geoffwilson8974 I've seen many many live gigs from some legendary bands and Shihad are right up there. I've seen them live about 10 times over many years. Never fail to give you a great show, love their fans, will have a yarn and a ciggy with you outside before the gig, and always come out to meet the fans and sign autographs after the gig. Top guys, top gig every time.
So sad they are calling it I will miss them massively
I hope people at this concert appreciated they were part of history!
I was there, was fucking insane!

"Man, why is this song such a heavy-sounding song?"
It's the bass man. I'm a guitar player, and I'm telling you the bass makes this song what it is.

Karl Kippenberger
It's the composition. Etherial noodling to heavy riff to melodic riff to heavy riff and repeat. There is no heavy without the soft.
great guys, no ego at all, awesome
that is THE BEST CROWD INTERACTION ive seen in ages....off the stage , into the crowd and back on stage in that short time..all i can say is WOW...fucking sick man

Does it get any heavier than that? I know tons of heavy bands, but that riff is 1000 tons wide. Man oh man.

Jon on fire !!! The band on Fire !!! Too Good ...Thank G-d for Shihad !!!
That riff Is so fucking massive.. And so simple I'm guttered I didn't create it lol
Its heaviness comes from the contrast it has with the softer verse guitars.
Very nice, shihad in top form.
